Indoor Air Purifiers: Healthier Living

There are typically two questions related to purchasing indoor air purifiers. The first question is how do purifiers help clean the air to promote healthier living? The second question is which one is best for indoors? These two are the most popular questions and the focus is on providing answers to these two questions.

Healthier living is always the goal of owning air purifiers, so how do they accomplish this goal? Air purifiers have the ability to remove the following particles from the air:

· Pet Dander – made up of dead cells, dust, dust mites, dried saliva, and dried urine (primarily male cats) that can be found on their hair.

So which indoor air purifier should someone purchase? The best air purifier to purchase is based on which combination of pollutants is causing (described above) problems. The following are recommended purifiers for typical situations:

· Hepa Filter – the best for indoor pet dander, especially when combined with an ionizer purifier.

· Ionizer Purifier – best for removing particles from the air 0.3 microns or larger, such as dust mites and pollen. Pet dander is smaller than 0.3 microns.

· UV Air Purifier or Germicidal UV Lamp – is best for removing Fungi, Bacteria, Viruses, and other germs in wet environments.

· Ozone Generator – is best for removing odors from pet liter boxes, etc.

· Carbon Activated Filter – best for removing smoke, strong odors, organic compounds,                 and chemical smells from the air.

The best combinations of indoor air purifiers are Hepa Filter and Ionizer Purifier for particles in the air. UV Air Purifier and Ionizer Purifier are best for removing mold, mildew, viruses, etc. The final best combination is Ozone Generator and Carbon Activated Filter for removing odors, chemicals, and smoke.

Even though these are considered to be the best combinations, indoor air purifiers come in a wide variety of combinations. The goal is to select the best combination for the specific situation which needs correction for healthier living indoors.

Lack of research and monitoring threatens estuarine environments. We need community leaders to help students solve this problem. Why protect estuaries?

As you have seen, estuaries are valuable natural environmental assets! Their health is vital to the proper functioning of ecosystem as well as environmental stability. Unfortunately, development and toxic compounds are poisoning many of the creatures who live here.

Sodium hypochlorite found in household gel and liquids are toxic to fish and can bind with organic compounds in water to form organ chlorines, which break down slowly in the environment and accumulate in the fatty tissues of wildlife, especially in organisms that live in water and soil.

Like Mussel, that begins life as tiny larvae that swim about freely and often end life on the dinner pale of many other creatures.

Organochlorine compounds are extremely persistent in the environment and have the unique property of concentrating in sediment and in the fatty tissue of aquatic life (Ware, 1989).

The increasing concentration of people is upsetting the natural balance of estuarine ecosystems. Stresses caused by pollution, overuse of resources and unchecked land use practices have resulted in unsafe water for swimming, oyster harvesting closures, harmful algal blooms, unproductive fisheries, loss of habitat, fish kills, and a host of other human health and natural resource problems.

As our population grows, the demands imposed on our natural resources increase creating new chalenges to the environment balance that is vital for survival.
